RDG designed a suspended access scaffold to enable essential repairs and restoration work to the underside of six spans of the High Level Bridge in Newcastle. To prevent overloading the outer arch, the design focused on concentrating the load on the main inner arch. This was achieved by installing 750mm deep beams above the pavement, supported by timber packers at specified intervals. Droppers were then installed through pre-drilled holes in the bridge deck to support the suspended scaffold below, ensuring safe and efficient access for the restoration works.
